Although agriculture industrialization, corporatization and globalization of food production generate productivity and economic benefits, they are associated with several detrimental effects on social, ecological as well as economic realms. Furthermore, historical and modern perspectives of economics are analyzed in this paper as they relate to resource utilization and sustainability. Although economistsââ¬â¢ perceptions on sustainable agriculture vary, they are usually founded on the principle of profitability and humansââ¬â¢ capacity to find alternative resources as well as solutions to their problems.
